Reviews for Tiny House in Salt Spring's Beautiful South End
Alexandre
Vancouver, Canada
Amazing little cabin with everything you need in it. Hosts are extremely responsive and there whenever you need something! Jocelyn gave us lots of recommendations. You do need a car if you are expecting to visit the island a bit since it’s further from Ganges and in the south end of the island, but for tranquility, darkness at night and birds chirping all day, it’s the right place to be.

We felt very much at home and were comfortable. It's a charming tiny home and the hosts thought of everything down to providing a bag for the market to little portable lunch containers for a picnic.

Tiny house was compact but very livable for two guests. The kitchen had everything we needed. Jocelyn gave us directions to three nearby beaches plus suggestions for hikes on Salt Spring Island. As one would expect in a tiny house, the bathroom was pretty small but it was doable.

Absolutely beautiful, quiet and peaceful surroundings, hidden beaches. The tiny house is a lot bigger than the pictures, and very comfortable. The host was very friendly and communicative. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

We loved our stay at this beautiful tiny home on Salt Springs Island. Every detail in the tiny home had been thought of carefully and it showed. My husband, 6 ft 2, and I, 5 ft 9, felt like we had lots of space to stretch out and found it very comfortable. Jocelyn provided a binder full of things to do in the area that we found very helpful. Overall this was one of our favourite air bnb stays and we hope to be back some day!

Staying in this "Tiny Home" on Salt Spring is an absolute must. Tucked on the edge of a beautiful property on the south side of the island. This stay was a much needed escape to nature, while still affording the comfort of home. Jocelyn and Jarvis are wonderful and accommodating hosts who's passion for the space is evident in every inch of the "Tiny Home". I had the pleasure of staying here for my anniversary and it was everything we could have asked for. Whether it was for a short walk to watch the sunrise by the water, or a short drive to town for the Salt Spring market/local cuisine, or even just a night in. My partner and I were never at a loss for something to do or see. Overall, a beautiful way to spend a weekend. We will definetly be back. 😄

beautiful, cozy tiny home close to both the water & the woods! Jocelyn was incredibly kind and easy to talk to, made us feel right at home. The tiny home was closer to the road than I had imagined but it still felt very private and tucked away from the main house. Super quiet street which was an absolute delight for our city ears!

Jocelyn was sooo wonderful and made us feel right at home. The tiny home was very charming and comfortable for the two of us. She had lots of recommendations from food to beaches and everything in between. She was very responsive and proactive at checking in with us. It’s a beautiful quiet location. It is a bit further away from town, but it was just the perfect spot for us!

Wow, what a hidden gem! We loved our stay at Jocelyn's tiny home. The location is quiet and private, and the tiny home is full of beautiful touches. We felt right at home and wish we could have stayed longer. The space is very clean and thoughtfully put together. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook during your stay. And the surroundings are just fantastic! We enjoyed going for morning and evenings swims at the local beaches, and we had a lovely time walking/hiking to the nearby harbor for dinner. Jocelyn had lots of local recommendations and helpful tips from a local that really enhanced our stay. Overall it was the perfect cozy island getaway. We will definitely be back!

Staying at Tiny Heaven was very pleasant experience. The place is so cute and super cozy. We had all the kitchen equipments for cooking with local ingredients purchased at supermarkets. The house is at a quiet area and we had a peaceful time while we were staying in Salt Spring Island. When we visit the island l, we will definitely would like to stay at Tiny Heaven again!

It is easy to see why Jocelyn is a Super Host: she is interested in your comfort and enjoyment but not intrusive. The home was clean and well-appointed; there are many enjoyable amenities and the hosts seem to have gone out of their way to provide many thoughtful items. It is an incredibly quiet and peaceful location and the outside covered patio extends the space. There are books, a binder with many trip ideas and suggestions and lots of basic supplies. Highly recommend.

Jocelyn was an incredibly friendly host! She welcomed us in-person the morning after we arrived and was armed with recommendations for hikes. She also provides an entire binder of things to check out across the island. The tiny home was absolutely adorable. We slept in the loft, which was very cozy, and enough head room to feel comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with every appliance/utensil we needed. We cooked all our meals in there or on the bbq provided outside. The bathroom worked fine for us, but is quite tight. Loved the location… it’s a short drive to Ganges (the island’s main hub), beaches and hikes, but it is also nestled in a very peaceful nook, away from traffic in the southern part of the island. We would definitely stay here again!

Many previous reviewers have commented on the cosyness of this well-designed and crafted tiny house; a space that is well equipped and feels bigger than it even looks. Also, the excellence of the host, Jocelyn. My wife and I, who have just stayed there for six nights concur with all these positive reflections. The tranquility of the location and the tiny house on a cul-de-sac, surrounded by trees and bird sounds (roosters too) is truly special. This property is well situated for farms selling fresh eggs, vegetables, fruit, the Island's cheese farm, Ruckle Provincial Park, a little further to Fulford Harbour for local coffee shops, and a little further to the main town Ganges. The wonderful books inside the tiny house - some about this miniaturised lifestyle - were fascinating and sobering: just how wasteful we humans can be in our use of living spaces and over-consumption of 'stuff'. If this sounds fascinating to you, try this tiny house. You will love it! We did!

We stayed at Jocelyn’s place for 4 nights in July. It was perfectly sized for 2 adults. The place is actually pretty spacious, we didn’t feel cramped as there’s lots of seating areas and the outdoor deck to relax. The loft bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was small as expected but well laid out. The bathroom and shower is a tight space but we managed fine. It can get quite hot in the summer and we didn’t want to open windows so as not to let the mosquitoes inside, but Jocelyn let us know there were some fans available in the tiny home which helped a lot. The area is peaceful and feels private even though you are on their property. Would definitely recommend!

We had an awesome time in this cosy, tranquil and cute place and felt right at home. The place had everything we were dreaming of and it was great to use the BBQ on the covered deck. We visited the beach at the end of the road a few times and had it for our selves most of the time. We are looking forward to visit again if ever we need to disconnect from our city life again. Thank you.

Jocelyn could not have been a more lovely and communicative host. She made us feel so welcome in her beautiful tiny home. It’s in a gorgeous part of the island that is quiet, but a short drive to many restaurants and attractions elsewhere. There is obvious care taken for every part of your stay, from home amenities to activity recommendations. Thank you for an incredible weekend!

Tiny Haven was perfect for my 4 night private retreat. The tiny home is well equipped and beautifully crafted; the area is replete with natural beauty and the artistic and creative touches I was seeking; Jocelyn and Jarvis were friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to help, while never intruding on the privacy and tranquility this property and the island as a whole offers. Everything has been thought of, right down to the carefully curated collection of books in Tiny Haven. I loved my time here.

We had a great time staying at Jocelyn and Jarvis’ Tiny Home. The place was really quiet (near the end of a cul-de-sac) and surrounded by nature - the perfect retreat from the city and a great place to relax. Plenty to do from the door, such as hiking, biking, beaches. Jocelyn was super responsive to messages and Jarvis even helped repair a puncture on the bike. Hope to come back!

Jocelyn’s Tiny Haven tiny home was everything we wanted and MORE. This space was so beautifully designed and styled, it was super cozy, peaceful and private. If you are looking for an escape from the city and to be submerged in nature this was beyond perfect. I wish we could have stayed longer! Lots to do around the location and the town isn’t far away. Jocelyn was incredibly kind and accommodating, we couldn’t ask for a better host and weekend away:)

We had a wonderful time at Jocelyn's. Everything was exactly like the listing - maybe even better! It's a really cozy place with lots of light and beautiful views looking out into the trees. The space is perfectly set up, nice living room area with the built in couches, extra blankets to curl up with and a small table that folds out for meals and playing games (handily located in the drawers under the couch). The space is small but every detail is perfect. The deck is a good size for sitting outside and enjoying the quiet. My daughter loved the loft bed and I took the room at the end which can be a den or the couch folds into a double bed. We were so happy that just down the road there were great trails and many beautiful coves to explore.

We are always drawn back here for our prolonged visit in Salt Spring. Jocelyn is always quick to respond and very friendly, but also knows how to give us our own quiet space. Very peaceful and quiet road with beaches near by for our morning walks everyday. Enjoy the sounds of birds and other animals as you sit on the amazing deck with your morning coffee. Excellent place cannot recommend this place enough.

I really loved my peaceful and restorative stay at Tiny Haven. The house is exactly as described and has been outfitted in such a way that it makes you feel right at home. The peaceful neighborhood, waking up to bird song, delicious well water, the windows, the wind chimes, the books, the cozy loft, the beach close by and the beautiful cedar trees were all highlights. A retreat to Tiny Haven was a balm for my soul.

My adult daughter and I enjoyed everything about Jocelyn's place. It was cozy and warm inside despite the cold temperatures. We took a lovely walk down the road that led to hiking trails, one of which led to the beach. We loved all the finishing touches made to the interior - no space is wasted. My daughter was perfectly comfortable in the loft. I was happy to sleep in the bedroom. I would return by myself. It would be a perfect writing retreat.

Jocelyn was a great host with our long stay at her tiny house. We love tiny houses and want to build one for ourselves one day so we love spending a long time in them. This is our second time here and we enjoy every minute of it. Even though it is a small space it feels huge especially with the added tv room where we spent many nights watching movies and shows with the Netflix she provided. Had great communication the whole time and even brought us a coffee grinder when we forgot our own. Amazing place highly recommend.

I cannot recommend this place enough. What a lovely environment and opportunity to check out Saltspring's south end!! The hosts are so lovely and happy to chat about their property and tiny home if any of it interests you. Wonderful suggestions in the binder, and verbally if you ask. If you're curious about tiny homes, this is such a great way to start truly feeling it out. This was our first ever visit to Saltspring and we can't wait to come back.

This place really is a tiny haven! Take a trail to town for the ferry, lunch or provisions. Just a short walk to amazing beaches, and within biking distance from farm stands and the Saturday Market. We enjoyed listening to all the birds, sipping our coffee in the banquette, and also having access to streaming! Jocelyn also provided some provisions which really helped us get settled in without having to rush to the store. She was very prompt with her communications and happy to chat whenever we saw her around. We would definitely come back!

My partner and I stayed at the lovely Tiny Haven and it went beyond what we could have ever hoped for. Tiny Haven had everything and more. The mornings were peaceful while enjoying the incredible homemade bread, jam, farm fresh eggs, granola and lovely tea. There was ample space and privacy in this toasty warm Haven. The days included exploring the incredible land and sights to see, numerous farm stands, and incredible artist on Salt Spring, as well as shopping. The evenings spent reading from the vast collection of books and playing games that have been thoughtfully offered in Tiny Haven. The magical touch came from the hospitality of Jocelyn who made us feel cared for as if by our own family. She truly welcomed us with a authentic kind spirit which made every moment easy to bask in immense gratitude. We will most definitely go back and highly recommend to folks who are looking to get away to find healing, rest, and rejuvenation to stay here to soak up this slice of heaven as it is once in a lifetime.

Don't let the "Tiny" fool you, the house is spacious and you feel like home the moment you step in. Tiny Haven is the coziest Airbnb experience we ever had! We loved staying there, everything was perfect from the cleanliness to the breakfast (homemade jam, homemade sourdough, teas..). This place is perfect if you want to have a relaxing staycation or if you're looking for a place to crash after exploring Salt Spring. This was undoubtedly the best air bnb experience I’ve ever had. The cabin was so incredibly cute and cozy and is the perfect place for a retreat into nature. It feels like it’s in the forest snd is really close to the beach and trails but we barely even left the cabin because we loved just relaxing there so much! The loft bed especially is really special. And Jocelyn was the kindest host who obviously really cares about making sure the guests have s great experience. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, if I could I would give it 6/5 stars. Choose this cabin!!

Tiny Haven and host Jocelyn were both sublime. The photos do not do justice to the tiny home - it's even more spacious and charming and comfortable in person. Breakfast items provided by Jocelyn were generous and kept us feeling more than just physically fed; her careful selection of locally sourced items helped us to feel connected to the land on which we were staying, and the community of people there. We were looking for quiet coziness in the woods, and got exactly that. Our trip included some inclement weather, icy roads and a snow storm. We did have some minor challenges related to weather, but Jocelyn was so helpful as a resource and guide to helping us avoid getting stranded and keep to the roads that would be most traversable. She made herself available by text to help us troubleshoot, which definitely made our trip not only memorable but safe and fairly free of mishaps. I am certain that we would have gotten into more trouble if we hadn't had such a helpful and insightful host. We’re so grateful that we got to stay with Jocelyn and experience Tiny Haven for ourselves.

This cozy little home is everything that the hosts promise in their description. It’s spotlessly clean, and every detail for guests’ comfort and convenience has been considered. We stayed during one of the most prolonged cold snaps and snowfalls and were cozy and warm throughout. In fact, we opted to stay home most nights to make dinner, watch a show and generally relax after days of exploring this beautiful Island. The hosts make sure you feel welcome, and provide lots of great suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. Communication was thorough and timely and we appreciated the offer to arrive early and leave late if needed. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks so much Jocelyne!

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a tiny cabin nestled in a quiet neighbourhood, this is the place to go! The place was exceptionally clean and cozy with so many personal touches. We stayed on a rainy weekend and it was the perfect place to relax and recharge with good food (the breakfast supplies were so delish - I would kill for more of the homemade jam), books (they have an amazing selection), and games (scrabble provided). Also, don't be afraid of the composting toilet - no smells escape! We will definitely be going back to enjoy a few more quiet days.

Our stay in Jocelyn's tiny home was just great! We loved the space. It is an excellently designed tiny home, with beautiful interior and exterior finishes, and wonderful woodsy, cabiny feel. The loft space was great and the living room had room for stretching when the dining table was folded away and comfy bench seat couches for lounging/reading. The kitchen was smallish but fully functional and well kitted out with pots, pans, etc. As other guests have noted, it felt larger inside than you would think, and was overall a very pleasant place to relax in for a rainy few days on Saltspring in October!

We've always wanted to try staying in a tiny house, and I have to say it was just as adorable and fun as we thought it would be. It has everything for a comfortable stay. My husband is 6'3 and he did have to dip his head occasionally and the shower was a bit of a squeeze, but he still enjoyed himself. Jocelyn was a highlight, she was such a gracious and generous host, and she was very communicative the entire stay. Hope to come back soon!

A very sweet little getaway. I was looking for a place to curl up and relax and this cozy abode was perfect. It was a lovely quiet retreat and home base for my island explorations. A short walk to the water in one direction, and the other to a beautiful nature preserve. I treated myself to some delicious dinners at the Rock Salt Cafe in nearby Fulford Harbor. I enjoyed spending quiet days hunkering in the tiny house followed by trips up island to hike and explore various beaches. Nearby Ruckle Provincial Park is a gem! Jocelyn is a most gracious host. There to make sure you have everything you need, while giving you ample privacy. Delightful!

This "tiny home" is much more spacious than you might expect and is very comfortable and well equipped. The location is fantastically peaceful and very close to secluded beaches and beautiful trails, in fact it's steps away from a wonderful 3 km loop along the coast and then back through rain forest and Garry oak woodlands. Ruckle Provincial Park is only a 5 minute drive away. I really couldn't imagine a nicer place to stay!

She even left us some food for breakfast - including fresh eggs from her chickens on the property. Such a wonderful host - we had the best time!

Thank you Jocelyn and Jarvis! The Tiny House on Salt Spring was a great experience. It’s in a quiet part of the Island, with a no-thru road, close to the ocean, hearing the occasional chicken nearby. There is a trail close to the Tiny House that leads all the way to Fulford Harbour. We were impressed by the uniqueness of the home, which was built by Jarvis himself, and felt spacious inside. We appreciated having farm fresh eggs, homemade granola, and some homemade jam, along with fruit, milk and other items ready for our stay. We had enough light in the Tiny House, it wasn’t dark or gloomy. The washroom had a composting toilet which had directions on how to use it. The shower was powerful and temperature was great! There was a covered outside deck or seating inside to enjoy the many books that were at the tiny house. Thanks for your hospitality and of sharing your knowledge about the island.

It’s a tiny house but lacks no comforts at all! Tucked into the woods, every inch is maximized. My nephews thought we were staying in a tiny treasure just their size and we loved every minute we spent there!

This place is the best! The hosts are an amazing family, and the place felt really big for all 4 of us even though it is a tiny home. Beautifully decorated, incredibly clean, everything we needed to make meals at home, right by the ocean and surrounded by trees. This place was perfect for a summer get away!

The tiny house is just the perfect retreat if one wants to enjoy a few days on Salt Spring Island. It is conveniently located close to the beach and not very far away from most amenities - one could even walk to the nearest shops as the hike through the beautiful “enchanted” forest is very enjoyable. The house is equipped with all comforts and very well designed in its smallest detail. Salt Spring Island is just stunning. Jocelyn and Jarvis were lovely hosts. They provided fresh eggs from their chickens, bread, home made jam, butter, granola, fresh milk and much more. Most of all, they were always happy to help and easy to deal with. We truly enjoyed our stay and I am sure, we will go back one day!

The Tiny House is a hidden gem on the Southern part of Salt Spring Island. Access to beautiful trails and nearby beaches. If you are looking for quiet and solitude this is the right place. Trip to Ganges is around 20 min by car. The house is beautiful and in impeccable shape. It feels bigger than the size may suggest. Highly recommended.

Jarvis and Jocelyn are thoughtful and warm hosts and made our first getaway in awhile a really memorable one. This Tiny House is well laid out, with all the comforts you can hope for in a home away from home. The summer weather, while we were here, was really comfortable for dining on the deck and sleeping in the loft. Our girls enjoyed their own bedroom with a separate entrance and the living/dining area was perfect for reading (lots of books already on the shelves), lounging, or games (their collection). My family loves exploring and with Jarvis’ suggestion, found some wonderful spots to take in the Garry oaks, arbutus, and breezy coastlines of intertidal zones and shell beaches all through Ruckle Provincial Park. He also recommended the running trails up to Reginald Hill and the views up at the peak were beautiful, overlooking Fulford Bay and both Mt. Tuam and Mt. Maxwell. Nearby Stowel Lake is perfect for an afternoon swim and if you can, try and make it to Salt Spring Island Bread Co. open only on Fridays. This Tiny House is the ideal spot to explore SSI, although you don’t have to go far to get the real experience of the Southern gulf islands. We are grateful for Jocelyn and Jarvis’ generosity of information and for the way they welcomed our family. The fresh fruit, milk and bread, and eggs (direct from their chickens) were more than sufficient for our daily breakfast. Our girls (9&12 yrs) were enamoured with their chickens and bunnies and Jarvis spent a bit of time answering their questions. We highly recommend planning your next SSI vacation with their Tiny House as your base. We know we’d love to return again!

We are a family of four, with two young children and we all enjoyed our stay. The little house had a lot of charm and it was a nice touch to have eggs from the chickens on site for our breakfast. We enjoyed the home made jam as well. What really was a highlight for our oldest daughter was spending time with the cats, feeding grass to the chickens and getting to see the newborn baby bunnies! Location was great as it was close to beaches, trails and Ruckle Park. There was a nice patio set up with a bbq and picnic table. We were able to use our fire pit we brought on the trip to roast marshmallows. The hosts were very friendly and easy to communicate with ahead of the trip by email and in person and by text during our stay. Highly recommend this gem in Salt Spring :)

Great location in south Salt Spring Island- quiet, rural with access to a beautiful beach and walking trail. The Tiny House is, in fact, tiny. But comfortable and very well appointed. Hosted by a very helpful and friendly family. We loved it. And we love SSI.

This tiny home was exceptional and Jocelyn and Jarvis were so attentive to our needs and answering our questions. The location couldn't be any better! Just minutes from the ocean and hiking trails. Loved the personal touches of decorating and having the breakfast supplies available -especially the homemade jam! This place is a gem!!!

This is a lovely cozy place that seemed much larger than 330 square feet. Our family of four enjoyed our time at the beach, walking through the neighbourhood and cooking together. Jocelyn was very helpful in providing information, making sure we were comfortable, and provided delicious fresh food for breakfast. A wonderful stay.
