Your Hosts
Thank you for your interest in our guest house here on beautiful Salt Spring Island.
Tiny Haven was home to our young family for nearly four years, a space we constructed ourselves in order to live simply, consciously and in harmony with nature and the seasons. For over twenty years we were tourists on Salt Spring, camping, hiking and exploring the island's lakes, farms, eateries and hidden beaches. We always dreamed of making this island our home and in 2018 we rolled our tiny house onto the Fulford ferry and settled it into its forever home. We feel incredibly privileged to be raising our two children in a rural community that values deep nature connection, slow food, creativity and play.
Jocelyn is a Registered Nurse whose nursing career is currently on hiatus while she works to transform our small (0.8 acre) piece of land into a thriving micro-homestead. Building deep, home-based seasonal rhythms into her family's life and tending the hearth of the home is a great source of joy and contentment for her. She is passionate about hiking, cycling with her children on her family cargo bike, food gardening, cooking from scratch and camping in our province's incredible parks. She loves equally Salt Spring's vibrant, buzzing summers and slow, drizzly winters.
Jarvis is a home-based software engineer who can't resist a DIY project. From carpentry to gardening to mechanical pursuits, he enjoys getting his hands dirty and learning new skills. He is an avid cyclist who loves road tripping, camping, homemade apple pie and a fully stocked wood shed.
As a family of four we delight in the simple pleasures of island life; taking night walks on our quiet road and marvelling at how bright the stars shine, sharing picnic dinners on the beach, and gorging ourselves on blackberries in the summer. We strive to live lightly and reduce our carbon footprint by eating local, buying secondhand, cycling, avoiding plastics, and finding recreation and rejuvenation in our own beautiful backyard.
We hope you'll come share our little slice of paradise in Salt Spring's stunning south end.
